Basildon Council is proudly supporting Small Business Saturday UK on 6 December 2025 with a fresh burst of activity designed to champion local traders, boost footfall, and celebrate the borough’s vibrant independent business community.
In the run-up to the national campaign, the Council has commissioned a new promotional video series showcasing the passion, creativity, and resilience of small businesses across Basildon, particularly in Wickford and Billericay. The short films will spotlight local businesses and highlight the huge value they bring to the borough’s economy and high streets.
To make it even easier for residents to shop local on the day, the Council is also offering free parking in selected Council-owned car parks on Saturday 6 December. The initiative aims to attract more visitors into the town centres, helping independent retailers, cafés, service providers, and market traders enjoy a busy, successful trading day during the key Christmas period.
Small Business Saturday UK is a nationwide celebration of independent businesses of all kinds — from shops and salons to tradespeople, creative professionals, and cafés. Basildon Council’s support reflects the wider ambition to strengthen local high streets and champion the diverse business community that helps shape the borough.
