Achieving a healthy work-life balance has never been more an important for companies and their employees.

Being in Basildon, you can be in the throbbing heart of London in half an hour - or sitting on a beach in less than 15 minutes! Canvey Island, ranked one of the UK’s sunniest beaches, is a few miles away.

Between Basildon and the River Thames, you’ll find stunning wetlands with an amazing variety of wild birds; a country park and nature reserve.

Basildon, Billericay and Wickford are hotbeds of community activity with a lively arts, theatre and music scene (that produced iconic names from Depeche Mode, Yazoo and Alison Moyet to headliner club DJs); wide range of shopping and new £25m cinema with the largest screen outside of London.

Basildon Town Centre is undergoing an extensive programme of regeneration which is set to transform the town into a modern and vibrant shopping hub with a thriving night-time economy.

The relocation of Basildon Market to St Martin’s Square has made way for the development of South Essex College’s state-of-the-art digital technology college on the market’s former site in Market Pavement. The new market boasts 46 modern kiosks and space for up to 40 popup stalls allowing for themed events alongside day to day trading. The relocation of the market coincides with significant improvement works to the paving and general look and feel of St Martin’s Square.

We have a £30 million 10-screen cinema development with six food and beverage units set to open in the town centre soon, with flagship restaurants, Orletto, Kaspa’s and Nando’s already providing a warm welcome to customers. And with our partners in the BasildON consortium we have secured nearly £2 million of funding for the development of arts and culture right in the heart of Basildon.

In March 2023, Basildon Borough Council was awarded £4.4m from the government’s Cultural Investment Fund to turn empty properties, including the old Robins Cinema, in the town centre into a creative facility for screen and immersive digital industries. The project will help support businesses and freelancers working in the film, TV, gaming, VFX and animation sectors.

Basildon Sporting Village offers a fantastic array of facilities including Olympic-size swimming pool, the 100-station gym packed with the latest kit, eight-court sports hall, 400m running track and other athletics facilities, as well as an indoor climbing wall. Festival Leisure Park is Essex’s number one leisure destination with a cinema, bowling, gym, night club and big brand restaurants.

Basildon Borough boasts three major high street retail centres: Basildon, Billericay, and Wickford. Within Basildon town centre it has the Eastgate (with over 100 shops & services) and Westgate Shopping Centres. Established retail parks - Mayflower and Pipps Hill - has been joined by the new St Hilary’s Retail Park in 2022, with retail and restaurant offerings.
